Pre-Conference workshop: Understanding Soils

Information

soils header

Before we spend the afternoon building the resilience of our grazing systems, our conference speaker David Hardwick will work one-on-one with 15 producers improving your understanding of soil health.

Tying in with Building Resilience topics, you will learn about the role of climate and soil moisture on soil health (before learning in the afternoon how you can monitor your soil moisture and use the information to improve decision-making).

Through hands on activities including assessment of your soils to crown the ‘best soil on show’, role playing the soil ecosystem, and working out how you can go about improving your soils, the workshop will improve your skills to manage the soils on your farm.

Understanding Soils is suitable for anyone from those totally new to soil health, through to producers who already put a lot of focus on their soil health, and you can attend even if you’re not able to come to the conference.

Cost: $15 per person

Contact: Email Rebecca Barr or phone 0402 788 526

Requirements: David has asked that all participants bring along a bucket of soil from your farm to analyse during the workshop.
