Present shared values communication workshops for the Livestock Collective’s Livestock Leaders program – designed to build capacity of supply chain champions involved in livestock production – and the Grain Industry Association of WA cross-commodity young leaders group.
ACTION
As part of her 2019 SA Rural Women’s Award project, Deanna travelled to the United States Center for Food Integrity to become an accredited shared values communication trainer. The training teaches participants to connect with people outside of agriculture using shared values, which CFI research has found is three to five times more important to building trust than sharing facts or demonstrating technical skills or expertise.
RESULT
The training is highly interactive and practical and gives participants a template to communicate scientific and technical information through shared values principles. Feedback from participants has been outstanding with high satisfaction scores and positive comments. Shared values training is now a regular feature of the ongoing Livestock Leaders professional development program.
