South Australian Lead Ag Teacher

The Lead Ag Teacher role supports schools to more effectively teach and implement agriculture throughout their curriculum. New in 2022-23 and funded by the South Australian Grain Industry Trust, the role is delivered by AgC consultant Sue Pratt, an experienced agriculture teacher and past President of the Agricultural Teachers Association of SA (ATASA).

The program enables school visits to offer support to internal teams to confidently deliver high quality, engaging food and fibre content. Access to the Lead Ag Teacher is free for South Australian teachers planning or currently delivering food and fibre programs in Government, Catholic and Independent schools.

The Lead Ag Teacher can provide individualised on-site support in:

  • SACE Ag programs and administration
  • Middle school food and fibre curriculum
  • Primary years food and fibre content
  • Refreshing and strengthening existing programs
  • Developing new programs
  • Development of curriculum resources
  • Benchmarking
  • Development of ag program strategic plans
  • Links with industry and research organisations
  • Connection to ATASA and its resources as well as the newly established South Australian Agricultural Careers Hub.

Sue is a registered teacher with extensive experience with food and fibre curriculum development and delivery at school, departmental and SACE levels. She holds a current Working with Children Check and has completed Responding to Abuse and Neglect training and the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations modules.
